Beautiful Watercolor Wedding Invitations

These invitations were very unique. The bride approached me and asked if I could incorporate a watercolor that she had created into their wedding invitations.

We scanned in the image and it created a beautiful backdrop to the thermography used on the invitation and on the response card.

The invitation suite was printed on a textured paper that added to the natural feel. The invitation and response card were mounted on a sturdy navy blue stock that picked up tones from the watercolor tree. The invitation was mailed in a natural colored envelope and the response card envelope matched.  I also created a directions and accommodations insert.

This is a great way to personalize your special day. If you have a special piece of artwork that you or a loved one has made I would love to incorporate it into your invitation.  It will make your invitations that much more meaningful.

Winter Wonderland

There is threatening snow here in Charlotte, NC - and to us Charlotteans its a big deal to have a threat of snow. Everyone is a little bit excited about the prospect of a snow day as one little snow flake throws the city into a tizzy and everybody buys the grocery stores out of milk and bread (really think they should be buying wine and beer instead) and people call off of work.

These thoughts of snow make me think of these lovely winter wonderland wedding invitations.

To enhance the frosty theme, the invites were printed on crystal metallic stock and mounted on a sapphire metallic stock which gave it a great weight.  The inserts were also printed on the crystal metallic paper. The envelope was the same sapphire color and were addressed with custom address labels.

Enjoy your snow day everyone!

Allison & Adam - Pink and Black

For Allison & Adam's wedding last summer I created a pocketfold invitation that was simple and elegant and exactly what they wanted. This was an extra large pocketfold that played off their fuschia and black color combination they had chosen for the wedding. The invitation itself was simple and was accented by a strip of ribbon running down the one side. The informational inserts stepped down in size to show the heading of each and included a custom map.

(looking at these pictures has given me a new New Year's resolution - to figure out how to set up my own photo shoot! I apologize for the not so stellar pics - I am a better designer than a photographer!)

Kim and Drew are Married

When planning the invitations for Kim and Drew's wedding, they asked me to create the invitations in a way that would reflect the Legare-Waring House, the beautiful location in Charleston, SC where their wedding was to take place. They were to be married under a row of low country oak trees dripping with spanish moss so I wanted to put those trees onto the invitation. Kim had picked blue and green for their wedding colors and we put that into their invitation with a square, cornflower blue pocketfold and metallic green paper and envelopes. Each insert for the invitation featured the tree design.

This photo is courtesy of The Schultzes. You must look at the other beautiful pictures taken by their photographer, on their blog.

Meaghan and Andrew - the invitation suite

I created Meaghan & Andrew's Save the Dates, so I was familiar with the fun and fresh color combo they had chosen. We paired a bright tiffany blue with a poppy red. The simple monogram at the top of each printed piece makes a bold statement and ties the wedding together with a theme.

The invitation suite included a 5x7" invitation printed on premium white cardstock, a RSVP postcard (self mailer) and a business sized lodging card to highlight their wedding website. All of this was mailed in a tiffany blue envelope.

For the wedding and reception, I designed table name cards which highlighted the many places across the world that Meaghan and Andrew have travelled to. I also designed escort cards and then a simple wedding program for their casual service.

Congratulations Meaghan and Andrew!

Julie & Aaron's Wedding

Julie and Aaron's wedding took place at Churchill Downs! What a cool place to get married! Their theme was blue and brown and they wanted to include a monogram with their invitation. This wedding invitation suite was an elegant combination printed on off-white cardstock. The invitation and response card were accompanied by a custom map outlining the locations of the hotels and wedding site. Directions were included on the back side of the map.

Alicia & Ryan - the wedding!

So finally, we are going to share the final piece of the Alicia & Ryan stationery puzzle. I have shared with you their Save the Dates, their Rehearsal Dinner Invitations and their fun Door Hangers and Water Bottle labels. Last but not least - here are their wedding invitations! They turned out beautifully!

The invitation design featured a light blue field of color on a pearlescent paper. A white shell shimmers at the top and the text was a chocolate brown color. The response card reflected the invitation's design with the shell and shimmery paper. I made them a customized map of the local area where their wedding festivities were to be taking place. All of this was tucked inside of a brown folder enclosure which was decorated with a sheer blue ribbon to match the color of the invitation.

I also made them a set of table numbers, also printed on the shimmery paper and also featuring the white shell to match the invitation.

Whew! Thanks Alicia & Ryan for all of your business! It was so great to help you personalize your wedding. Best wishes for a long happy life together!

What's Black & White and Red all Over?

No, not a zebra with a sunburn! (sorry for the bad joke) Its the invitations I did for Allison & Charlie's May wedding! She was using red as an accent color for her wedding and wanted that portrayed in her invitations. I designed for her this scrolling design to cascade down the side of the invitation and which would be a key feature in all the pieces of the stationery suite.

Below are her invitation, front of RSVP postcard, Thank You card with photo and photo announcment. All were printed on a fine soft-white card stock with matching addressed envelopes.

Purple Wedding Invitations

So Deb approached me about their wedding invitations. She wanted something that had a traditional feel but that introduced the lilac color that she was having in her flowers and bridesmaid dress. Here are some of the options...

Chinese-American Wedding

Double Happiness!
My cousin got married this past fall and his bride is a wonderful woman from China. They wanted to have a bilingual invitation - both Chinese and English! This was my first foray into Chinese invitations and it was such a fun project to work on! I did learn that black is considered bad luck in the Chinese culture - so instead of a black double happiness character I embossed a gold character onto the red paper.

Fall Invitation

I created these beautiful invitations for a Ladies Luncheon for work. They were made on a nice ivory linen cardstock matted on a shiny bronze backing. A coordinating ribbon wraps the inviation. These could easily be made into invitations for weddings or other special occassions. Matching favor tags were created.

Amanda & Tim's Wedding Invitations

These invitations are gorgeous!  Amanda is decorating her wedding with a great shade of pink and with a classic orchid.  We incorporated both into these beautiful invitations.  These invitations are printed with thermography (raised printing) on a beautiful crisp white linen stock.  The RSVP cards are also done in thermography on the front - the back has their names on it which makes it an easy postcard for their guests to pop into the mail (saves on postage!).  Also we included a map/directions/accomodations/reception card.  These guests are going to have all the important information at their fingertips!  We lined the inner envelopes to match the invitations for a very traditional look - the pink gives it a fun twist!

Meredith & Jay's Invitations!

Meredith and Jay's invitations are done! They turned out so great! They are getting married at the fabulous Inn at Biltmore this August...it is truly going to be a beautiful wedding so we needed invitations to match! They designed a pocketfold invitation with four inserts. The paper was a luxurious textured cream stock which made the invitation pop! We sealed the invitation with a seal with their date - 080808 on it! Sounds like good luck to me! We printed envelopes to match.

Maggie & Tripp's Wedding Invitations

Maggie & Tripp are getting married this fall and asked me to come up with some ideas for a fun invite with hints of tradition. Maggie has picked out bridesmaids dresses in a shade of green and wanted to include that as well as brown which fits into the autumnal feeling she is trying to infuse into the wedding.

John & Julie's Wedding Invitations

Tying the knot!

So they're done and in the mail! They turned out great. I printed all of their addresses and the inner envelopes for them. They also had a reception card, a map with directions and hotels on the back, a RSVP card with a blue metallic response envelope that I printed with their address on it. The invite itself was printed on Soft White Cover paper with aqua lettering and tied with a knot.
